Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to Guangzhou
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is in Huadu District, north of the city. You can sleep near the terminals and still reach Yuexiu, Tianhe or Pazhou the next morning if you pick the right transfer.
Metro Line 3
Metro Line 3 is the airport line. Airport South station serves Terminal 1. Airport North station serves Terminal 2. Trains run into the city toward Tiyu Xilu and beyond. From the campus hotels, the ride to the CBD is about 30 minutes.
Buy a Yang Cheng Tong or use a QR-code ticket on the metro apps in use that year. Keep a small amount of cash or a working mobile wallet for the gates.
Crowne Plaza Guangzhou Huadu is 100 metres from Qingtang on Metro Line 9, two stops from the airport, if you want a hotel that is already on the metro rather than on the campus.
Taxi and ride-hailing
Taxi ranks are landside at each terminal. Didi and similar apps work for travellers with a Chinese number or an app that accepts international cards. Do not assume every driver will take a hotel shuttle meeting point as a pin. At Canton Fair peaks, taxi queues at Pazhou are a separate problem from the airport queue.
Continuing to Shenzhen or Hong Kong
Shenzhen Baoan is a different airport. If that is your flight, use the Shenzhen airport hotel guide rather than sleeping at CAN.
For Hong Kong by train, plan a transfer to Guangzhou South Railway Station, then high-speed rail to Hong Kong West Kowloon. The rail leg is often around two hours. That is city-to-city time, not door-to-door from your hotel. Add metro or taxi to Guangzhou South.
Which hotel if you also want the city
Campus hotels (Pullman, Novotel) cut flight risk and add a Line 3 ride in the morning. Crowne Plaza Huadu trades a 5 km shuttle for Line 9. Hampton Airport North is 40 km from the city centre. Skip it if downtown is the point of the trip.
